June 2023 PSU: Preparation of True Water Rights

We are thrilled to share an exciting progress update on the Las Mercedes KM11 Clean Water Solution project in Piura. With each passing day, we are one step closer to transforming the lives of the community and creating a lasting impact.

Over the past month, our dedicated Engineering team has been diligently working on the project's management aspects, ensuring that every detail is meticulously planned. Weekly meetings have fostered a spirit of collaboration and enabled us to make significant strides in the engineering and construction stages. Notably, we have successfully completed the preparation of Annex 23, which is the "Descriptive memory for the use of return waters" for TUPA 1. We are eagerly awaiting the necessary approvals from the Irrigators Commission and the Chira-Piura Project to proceed with the submission to the ANA to approve the water use rights.

The recent visit of P.E Leonidas from the Irrigators Commission to the prospective uptake structure location will provide invaluable insights. Through updated assessments and hydrological surveys, we are obtaining crucial information for the completion of the Irrigators Commission Authorization Document, certifying that our proposed water use will prove effective.

Upon completion, this project will have a profound and far-reaching impact on the lives of the 1,000+ residents of Las Mercedes KM11. Access to clean and safe water will not only ensure better health and hygiene but also empower the community in numerous ways. Children will have the opportunity to attend school regularly, without being burdened by the arduous task of fetching water from distant sources. Families will be able to cultivate their lands and boost agricultural productivity, leading to economic growth and self-sustainability. Moreover, the overall well-being and quality of life in the community will experience a remarkable transformation (as we have seen in Monte Castillo), fostering a brighter future for generations to come.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our generous donors and supporters whose unwavering commitment has sustained the progress of the vital efforts of this project through the many challenges and barriers we have faced on behalf of the community. Your contributions are paving the way for positive change and leaving an indelible mark on the community. We invite everyone to increase your support in this incredible journey as we work tirelessly to provide a sustainable clean water solution to Las Mercedes KM11 and beyond
