Breakthrough Approval and Support

As we bid farewell to November, we are excited to share the latest developments in our ongoing clean water initiatives. This month has been marked by significant progress in both Las Mercedes KM 11 and Cerro de Leones.

Las Mercedes KM 11: Accelerating Pipeline Approval

After months of steadfast cooperation and negotiation, we are thrilled to announce a breakthrough in our efforts in Las Mercedes KM 11. The Piura Regional Government (GRP) has extended its full approval and support for our initiative to run the pipeline from the community's nearest water source to the heart of the town. This achievement, though arduous and challenging to get to this point, marks a crucial milestone in accelerating the community’s journey to clean water!

With the full backing of the GRP, a pivotal meeting was held on November 28th with local governance responsible for granting the easements essential for our pipeline. This collaborative effort signifies a significant leap forward in accelerating the approvals which sets the stage for transformative change in Las Mercedes KM 11.

Cerro de Leones: Preparing for Progress

In Cerro de Leones, preparations for progress are well underway. The team has initiated the preparation of an updated project schedule which lays the groundwork for a streamlined and efficient execution of our clean water solution.

Simultaneously, plans are in motion to perform a comprehensive water supply and rights assessment of Rio San Francisco, the chosen water source for Cerro de Leones. This crucial step is vital in preparation for requesting water rights from the local water authority, the ANA. The community has no other option currently but to use this distant water source for all their needs despite visible contamination. We will bring a sustainable solution that treats contaminated water from the river into clean water at the heart of the community!

Looking Ahead: Optimism for December

As we enter the final stretch of 2023, the momentum from November's successes propels us forward. The collective efforts and partnerships forged in both communities underscore our commitment to realizing a future where clean water is accessible to all.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to navigate the complexities, celebrate milestones, and drive positive change in Las Mercedes KM 11, Cerro de Leones, and far beyond!
